Guild Wars is a pretty poor game to play if your main goal is to go farm monsters all day to obtain wealth and otherwise be involved in a rich player based economy where you purchase/trade/horde various trinkets and doo-dads.

Armor, Weapons, and Runes should be accessable and standardized. Say what you will about unlocking for PvP, but Guild Wars has never made claim towards being a glorified stuff gathering simulator like Diablo 2.

At least in Diablo 2 it's possible to get everything you want and benefit from it, not to mention D2 is actually a fun game despite its own short comings.

What the hell are you talking about? Horders are profiting from the situation.

I simply hated the fact some people cashed in on the latest patch
since the prices of everything dropped.

Stupid move on A.net's part I say.

On the other hand, you are more reliant on your gear in Diablo 2.

Unlocking for PvP aside, it is extremely easy to get everything you need in Guild Wars. Sure, you can't get every superior rune or perfect weapon mod you want in reasonable gameplay, however, you do not need every superior rune or perfect weapon mod for reasonable gameplay.

double or triple Zeros prices and I would agree. maybe not the sell back price. but definitely the Buying price. that's WAY too low even for today's economy. and heck I'm one of your guys supporters to be rid of inflators. its just that you do not want rune to be TOOO easy to get. regardless... it effects the game on the PVP side too much. If they make it so PVP characters can only use runes that they unlock. Period. then yes I would agree with the prices set by zero... otherwise it needs to be higher for superiors...

Only real gripe I have with the patch is the speed with which the traders adjust to market fluctuations. Things like superior runes have prices far below their market value at the traders, as evidenced by their inability to keep them in stock. Maybe it'll level out in a week or so, but for now things are just a mess, with people camping the traders looking for deals, instead of coming to the traders for the 'want it now' purchases.

Peace,

WTH?

The fix to the economy was overdue and the basic idea behind it seems to work. Runes are at acceptable prices right now. At first i was quite pissed about those wo got insanely rich during the reset but then i said to myself "well, do i really care if there are guys who have 4 billions when i can buy all i need at a reasonable price?". And as soon as i was honest to myself. No, i did not care.
To those who said the people are not MEANT to have those runes. All i can ask you is "how do you know Arena.net intended them NOT to have runes?". I moreover think this is just a carry over from other MMORPGs where someone who was grinding 24/7 had equip that equaled or surpassed the powers of any given roleplay god. First off, the range is smaller in Guildwars. With exception for elite skills in the Ascalon Arena and those first time pvpers with their level 17 in Lion's Arch, there is just no way you can own some newbies who are a multiple of levels lower than you by outruling their equip.

From those other games though, comes the thinking that you MUST be able to own noobs (see the many Eliteskills in Ascalon). It is also taken from other games that your equip has to be superior to those of others and you will have to stop others from gaining it by all means. To be exact: Make it insanely hard to get.
In WoW it would be camping in front of the instance and bashing the hell out of everyone who wants to enter the precious instance.
In Guildwars it is the belief Runes have to cost at least 100 Platinum and Upgrades should never go lower than 400 Platinum. The max damage Chaos axe with nice mods should never go for less than 800 platinum (yes i've actually people seen charge these fees...).
These numbers are not to become rich, but to establish some kind of elitest society where only those who were first now and then can compete (well, or the e-Bay'ers). Having said that... it is nonsense. Guildwars is just no MMORPG and no matter how hard you try, it will never get the personal Elitesociety so many people want it to be.

Arena.net has shown us multiple times they don't want it to be this way. So yes, i will not sign this petition neither. I kind of agree with the stance Arena.net has on the importance of Wannabe Elites and Scammers (oops... but charging 800 plat for ANYTHING is just a scam).

To those who say people should work for something to have it. Why? This is a game for christs sake. A fricking game. Games are not meant for you to work in, they are made so you can have fun and enjoy playing it. If i want to work i just close Guildwars and head over to my RL. I've got enough work to do there, i most certainly don't need even more work in a game.

the fix they did HAD to happen. and the way it is designed currently that's the way it had to happen. the sell back equation was really frelled from previous patch, so doing this fixed that issue. so in that fact this update was exactly what was needed. the end result was a short term inflationary and market sellout of items. eventually this will balance back out with sell backs and injections from anet of inventory for the traders...

STOP COMPLAINING! The economy may not be perfect but they fixed it pretty well. I completely disagree with the guy who is/was pissed off by the introduction of traders. Prices were getting crazy and everyone was was sick of the constant spamming of WTS, WTB ****. Why the hell are you complaining? The economy is actually STABLE now. I just wish there was an auction house to put a definite end to all the WTS & WTB useless junk for 50k

edit: i totally agree with you Kampfkeks

Perhaps I'm biased against petitions, but they're largely ineffective when dealing with video game companies. Not to mention that forums are an especially crappy place to start a Petition. This is made even worse by the fact that Guild Wars lacks an official forum. Even if people supported this idea (and apparently they do not) the amount of signatures he could have gotten would have been totally inconsequential.

It's going to take a little more than an independent poll, survey, petition, or whatever to convince Anet to do something.

Anyhow, I don't see you signing.

Prices on runes have signifcantly dropped, and now when you get a superior rune, it isnt worth anything, I mean, come on! Arent superior runes meant to be "Superior" "Rare"?? The prices of a rune now are affordable for anybody who plays this game on a regular basis. Something all of us have put alot of time into, to make our character outstanding, by luckily finding that superior rune to max out our skill, can be bought extremely cheap. Not making the game better for those who have been playing since the game came out.

I know of so many people who have been rune farming and saving them till this game has really exploded, only to sell them at a high price that they should be sold at. Now all of these people are quitting, stating that their time spent is now only worth 2-3k per rune. I myself have been saving those superior monk runes that I have been finding on runs, for when the trader is sold out and people are desperate to make their solo monks. When if they want now, they can stand at the rune trader till it refreshes and buy a rune for 1400 or 4000 gold. Not Cool!

The staff of Guild Wars needs to re-establish this patch, making the runes most bought to rise in price, and not be so common. My friends list was a group of people that I have known to play this game day in and day out, sharing favorite farming locations, where rare armors dropped, that they could salvage and sell at a high price. Now they are all asking if there is anything i would like, because they are all QUITTING, because their inventory and storage full of RARE runes can be bought for a rediculous low price!!!

What is going to happen with this "Summer Patch" that is going to make rares drop more often?? Who cares about that anymore right? Because now you can buy them. The next patch is ruined, in my opionion, and the thoughts of others. So yea you will be able to explore new areas, but what is the fun in that? Anybody will have the advantage that those of us have worked so hard to obtain.

I know the multiple numbers of rare gold armors that are superior runes that i have, that were once worth 10k-60k gold, are now only worth a mere 5k gold. All of them are just a bit of extra change in my pocket. I have over 500 hours in this game of working hard to get these runes that are most sought after. I know alot of you out there feel the same way.

My thoughts are either to remove or better the recent economy patch. I found nothing wrong with the way the game had been being played. It was fair to everybody. If you are new to the game, you cant expect to have the luxuries that people who have been playing the game for three months do.

To better the recent economy patch, instead of an item selling out, and being available again in a minute at the same price, they should have the item come back at a significantly higher price. Or just do as they had been doing, and the price of the item continually rising, but being constantly available.

If you agree that this recent patch is only hurting those of us who have spent our time playing the game to become rich; Please leave your thoughts, and some helpful information that could be used to either better the economy, or remove it. Thank You! Perhaps making this thread sticky wouldnt be a bad thought either.
Welcome to the real world!

In wich most people play a game for fun and joy, they get this fun from playing a character they like, including the runes needed for this char.

And it is NOT fun if some uber-geek (who probably thinks he's an Elite or something) prevents me from building my char because he only wants to sell some stupid rune at 100k.

It is people LIKE YOU and your farmer friends that break the economy off this game because you guys refuse to sell any drops at reasonable prices, and hoard thins like runes and black dye to drive up the prices some more.

And you now what, i love Anet for the economy patch! It put fun back in the game i now finally got my sup. healing rune so i could get on with my char, without being forced to farm the FoW for hours on end, just to get enough money so that i could pay someone like you 100k+ for damned rune.

First you farmers had Anet nerf the drops so even normal players didn't get anything descent anymore, meanwhile you guys where still sitting on your hoards of runes and materials driving the prices to insane levels, and worst of all when Anet brakes it for you guys (as they should) you have the foul guts to complain about it.

And that's the way it SHOULD BE.

I'm glad they finally normalized the prices at the merchant. I found it entirely ridiculous that I could BUY a rune for say 2k, but when I went to SELL the same rune to the vendor, I would only get 100GP! That's insane, and I've never seen that ANYWHERE in any economic model.

Good job to ANet for implementing this and to those of you who don't like it? Tough... you're clearly in the minority. This was better for the community at large.

Are there still people complaining about getting what they have been asking for but having other players like them screw everyone over?

i have an idea, "Petition to stop blaming Anet for every mistake we as players make"...

Hmm . . . this seems exactly like a stock market crash of sorts . . Lots of people complaining because they didn't cash in all their equities before an unknown crash came and trashing people that bought up the blue stocks before anything could climb out of the red. It pretty much is better luck next time, buddy.

For me, I sensed a crash coming. 34k for Black dye? Rediculous! So, I sold off my 2 Black dyes I had been saving at ~12am central for 12k each. Low price but still a profit for me. I got on the next day and checked the trader prices because a bunch of people were telling everyone to keep the new trader prices a secret. Black dye was back down to 6k. I sold early and profitted.

Get over the crash! Accept that you made a mistake by holding onto your equities for too long. You could have cashed in but your greed only wanted more.
